The Jacob Jones is a great wreck for photo's, souvenirs, fishing and lobsters. There are piles of 50 Caliber shells and many cubbey holes for lobsters to hide in... it is rare not to find a memento or dinner on this wreck.

The Jacob Jones is a WWII destroyer built at the end of WWI. It served as an anti-submarine patrol vessel until it was sunk in the mouth of the Delaware Bay by the German U-boat U-578 that the Jacob Jones was chasing. Two torpedoes that destroyed the bridge and bow started the Jacob Jones sinking. Most of the survivors of the initial explosion died when the stern sank and set off the depth charges. There were only eleven survivors from the crew of 145. The wreckage was wire-dragged twice, in 1944 and 1950 to clear the shipping lanes.
